Marketing 101-7 Are you trying to start a business? Are you pondering over the pro and con of starting a business? Got a great idea of starting a business? In the book, “How they started”, by David Lester regarding 30 business good ideas that became great businesses, he pointed out that about 25% of the businesses raised funds from business angels; another 25% of them raised venture capital at a later stage. What I am saying is what I called the importance of “debt -free operation” of a business. Many businessmen borrow from bank which I believe is a bad call no matter what industry they are in. And all of the founders that were listed in the book; not one of them put MONEY as their final goal in their business quest. They are right! As I look at the list of the industries that was covered includes: Food and Drink (innocent drink, Cobra beer), Retail (Glasses Direct. Dreams), Restaurants and Leisure (PizzaExpress, The Cinnamon Club), etc. I think one important thing to ponder here is good idea might not be God’s idea! How come God comes into the picture? You will understand this further if you know that He does involve in our business. Suffice to say at this juncture is that, God does and will always be the final authority in our decision making mechanism. As there will be merger in the field of Telecommunication and IT, merger in medical field and Christianity and so on and so forth. It will become clearer as we are moving into the last frontier of mankind- outer space (external exploration) and our soul (subconscious mind)( internal exploration). As I quote famous author and preacher, Morris Cerullo who said that “All truth is parallel”. In conclusion, starting a business should not involve in borrowing money from the bank. How many of you have heard that when it started to rain, the bank pulled back the umbrella. Yes, there are other variables to consider like passion, self-believe, self-motivation, hard work, vision, stamina and goal setting among others to gauge whether one can go far or not. Maybe you can browse through this website for further info: www.startups.co.uk , For those who are in Malaysia, can access www.ssm.com.my for further info about the legal aspect of getting into business. Well, when you want to seek advice, find those who are doing it themselves and have done well. There are too many “advice givers” who give inaccurate advice. Be wise….
